Aims

	To provide reading material appropriate for the instruction of Sudanese University healthcare students in scientific English.
	To provide students with guidelines on techniques of academic reading, comprehension and note-taking.
	To provide methods of self-testing in reading and comprehension.
	To introduce students to the basic notions related to techniques of writing, scientific articles and book layout.
	To acquaint the student with the basic terms used in the material and social sciences as related or applied to health and disease.
	To foster in the process interest in the study of traditional healthcare culture.

Course content:

	Useful general medical vocabulary in context
	General comprehension and language exercises
	Transmediation exercises (eg., describing information given in graph or table form using vocabulary and structures given in the test)
	Scope for discussion and reference work
